Estimates of mercury in fish
This table provides information about mercury contamination for five size categories of four species of common gamefish for the Cross Timbers ecoregion.
“Average MeHg (ppb)” represents the average methylmercury concentration for each size category of fish. Rows highlighted in red are greater than 300 parts per billion (ppb), the concentration at which U.S. EPA recommends that fish consumption advisories be issued.
“Lakes Above 300 ppb” represents the percentage of waterbodies in an ecoregion that contain fish with mercury concentrations greater than 300 ppb.
